MLB Season Review: Detroit Tigers put down Chicago White Sox 3-0
American League’s Chicago White Sox and Detroit Tigers battled it out in a thrilling four game series. Tigers did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-0 victory in this series after defeating the White Sox convincingly. Tigers have had an extraordinary season
so far as they got an exemplary Win-Loss record during spring training season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 22: Chicago White Sox 3 – Detroit Tigers 9
Tigers directed a 9-3 win in the first game, as Justin Verlander was impressive with his pitching. He had eight strike-outs with an ERA of 3.50 in the Tigers convincing victory. Verlander said, “I had no idea. I'm not really one to follow statistics like
that, so I'm glad somebody was paying attention. It's nice to have a lead -- four, five, six runs -- as a starting pitcher.”
On the other side, White Sox batters were able to add only three runs in the complete game. Mark Buehrle pitched well for the White Sox but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only five batters on his 101 pitches and
permitted eight hits with six earned runs.
Game 2 – April 23: Chicago White Sox 0 – Detroit Tigers 9
In the second game, Tigers outclassed the White Sox 9-0. Tigers’ starter, Brad Penny threw the ball in good line as he pitched seven innings and surrendered just one hit and two walks with no earned run on his 95 pitches. Penny had just three strike-outs
with an ERA of 6.35.
Speaking to reporters, Penny said, “I still don't think I would've thrown a no-hitter. My pitch count was getting up there. I'm sure I would've given up a hit at some point.”
White Sox were unstable with the bat and again failed to add runs until the end of the game. Edwin Jackson had a shaky day with the ball as he threw just over five innings with an ERA of 4.88 and gave away 12 hits, eight runs, four walks, no homer and seven
earned runs on his 109 pitches.
