MLB Season Review: Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins level two-game series 1-all
American League’s Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins both fought it out in a thrilling two game series. Royals and Twins both did an imposing job as they tied the two-game series 1-all. Royals have had an amazing season as they got an exemplary Win-Loss
record during spring training season this year.
Let us take a brief summary of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 12: Kansas City Royals 3 – Minnesota Twins 4
Twins managed a 4-3 win in the first game, as Brian Duensing was impressive with his pitching. He had two strike-outs with an ERA of 4.15 in the Twins impressive victory. Robinson Tejeda was excited after this credible win as he said, “That's baseball. I
just try to come in and do my job. Sometimes you miss a spot, and they're going to make you pay for it.”
Luke Hughes had a memorable day with the bat as he went 2-or-4 with an average of .273 and hit two RBIs including no run. Jason Repko, Michael Cuddyer, Jason Kubel and Alexi Casilla each showed their contribution and added four runs collectively to give
the Twins a competitive lead over the Royals.
Conversely, Royals’ batters contributed only three runs to keep themselves alive. Billy Butler, Jeff Francoeur and Alcides Escobar each added three runs jointly for the Royals. Jeff Francis pitched well for his team but that was not enough to steal a win
for the Royals. He struck-out five batters on his 100 pitches. Francis permitted three runs, eight hits, one walk, no home-run and three earned runs with an ERA of 2.61.
Game 2 – April 13: Kansas City Royals 10 – Minnesota Twins 5
In the second and final game of the series, Royals outclassed the Twins 10-5. Royals’ starter, Kyle Davies threw the ball in good line as he pitched five innings and surrendered only five runs, 10 hits, no home-run and five earned runs on his 89 pitches.
Davies had four strike-outs with an ERA of 9.00. He put in a tremendous effort as he led the team.
Royal’s manager, Ned Yost said, “It was a day of bunches. We bunched together a bunch of hits and then they came back and bunched together a bunch of hits. Again, our bullpen is spectacular.”
Twins’ Denard Span, Matt Tolbert, Kubel and Justin Morneau were the only four players who scored five runs for their team. Francisco Liriano had a shaky day with the ball as he threw five innings with an ERA of 9.42 and gave away eight hits, seven runs,
one walk, no-homer and seven earned runs on his 78 pitches. Liriano struck-out four batters on his respective pitched innings.
However, a decent group effort kept the Royals and Twins both on top throughout the two-game series.
