MLB Season Review: Los Angeles Angels defeat Texas Rangers 2-1 in three-game series
American League’s Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers both battled it out in a thrilling three game series. Angels did a noticeable job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after defeating the Rangers convincingly. Angels have had a remarkable season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 18: Los Angeles Angels 1 – Texas Rangers 7
Rangers directed a 7-1 win in the first game, as C.J. Wilson was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective seven innings with an ERA of 3.08 and struck-out nine batters in the Rangers victory. Rangers’ manager, Ron Washington said, “They're pretty
good players. We love them when they're doing well. We have to stick with them when things aren't going right.”
On the other side, Angels’ batters were able to add only one run right through the complete game. Ervin Santana pitched well for the Angels but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his 90 pitches
and gave away two walks, 10 hits, six runs, one home-run and six earned runs with an ERA of 5.26.
Game 2 – April 19: Los Angeles Angels 15 – Texas Rangers 4
In the second game, Angels outclassed the Rangers 15-4. Angels’ starter, Matt Palmer pitched the ball accurately as he threw six innings and allowed only three hits with an ERA of 4.22. Palmer was able to strike-out just three batters during his 84 pitches.
Rangers were unsteady with the bat and added just four runs until the end of the game. Colby Lewis had a troubled day with the ball as he pitched five innings with an ERA of 5.82 and surrendered five hits with three walks on his 91 pitches. Lewis struck-out
three batters and gave away just four earned runs.
Game 3 – April 20: San Los Angeles Angels 4 – Texas Rangers 1
During the last game of the series, Rangers lost 4-1. Angels’ second baseman Howard Kendrick shined as he struck one RBI and went 1-for-2 with an average of .297. Scioscia said, “We're a lot way away from where we need to be for the long haul. We've been
getting some wins because we've been pitching well.”
Rangers’ batters were able to yield only one run in the series finale. Matt Harrison pitched just over six innings and gave away three runs, four hits, three earned runs and one home-run on his 105 pitches. However, a decent team effort gave the Angels the
series win against the struggling Rangers.
