MLB Season Review: Los Angeles Angels sweep Chicago White Sox 3-0
American League’s Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels both fought hard in a thrilling three game series. Angels did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-0 victory in this series after defeating the White Sox convincingly. Angels have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the season.
Let us take a brief summary of these thrilling games:
Game 1 – April 15: Los Angeles Angels 4 – Chicago White Sox 3
Angels directed a 4-3 win in the first game, as Jered Weaver was impressive with his pitching. He had four strike-outs with an ERA of 1.30 in the Angels convincing victory. He managed to put in a tremendous pitching performance for the club. Weaver said,
“He doesn't miss many mistakes and that was a mistake on my part. He put it where he should have. That's what he does.”
On the other side, White Sox batters got only three runs in the whole game. Philip Humber pitched well for Chicago but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only four batters on his 94 pitches and permitted six hits with
two earned runs.
Game 2 – April 16: Los Angeles Angels 7 – Chicago White Sox 2
In the second game, Angels outclassed the White Sox 7-2. Angels’ starter, Tyler Chatwood threw the ball in good line as he pitched seven innings and surrendered just one run, five hits, two walks, one home-run and one earned run on his 93 pitches. Chatwood
had three strike-outs with an ERA of 3.75.
White Sox were shaky with the bat and added just two runs until the end of the game. Gavin Floyd struggled with the ball as he threw six innings with an ERA of 4.29 and gave away eight hits, six runs, two walks, two homers and six earned runs on his 98 pitches.
Game 3 – April 17: Los Angeles Angels 4 – Chicago White Sox 2
During the final game of the series, White Sox lost 4-2. Angels’ first baseman Mark Trumbo shined as he completed one run including one RBI and went 2-for-4 with an average of .278. Scioscia said, “You can look at a lot of different numbers, but I don't
think you need numbers to see how well Dan has been pitching.”
White Sox batters were able to yield only two runs in a series finale. The offence struggled throughout the game. Mark Buehrle pitched seven innings and gave away four runs, 10 hits, four earned runs and one home-run on his 101 pitches. However, a brilliant
team effort kept the Angels on top against the White Sox throughout the series.
