MLB Season Review: Los Angeles Dodgers beat Atlanta Braves 3-1 in four-game series
National League’s Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves fought hard in a thrilling four game series. Dodgers did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Braves convincingly. Dodgers have had an extraordinary season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during season.
Let us take a brief outline of these thrilling games:
Game 1 – April 18: Atlanta Braves 2 – Los Angeles Dodgers 4
Dodgers directed a 4-2 win in the first game, as Ted Lilly was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective seven innings with an ERA of 4.09 and struck-out six batters in the Dodgers victory. Lilly said, “It's always nice to get early runs, especially
when it's against a quality pitcher like Hudson. When you have a chance to jump ahead like that, you have to take advantage.”
On the other side, Braves’ batters were able to add only two runs right through the complete game. Tim Hudson pitched well for the Braves but that was not enough to grab a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only four batters during his 92 pitches
and gave away two walks including six hits with an ERA of 4.05.
Game 2 – April 19: Atlanta Braves 10 – Los Angeles Dodgers 1
In the second game, Braves outclassed the Dodgers 10-1. Braves’ starter, Brandon Beachy pitched the ball accurately but was expensive as he threw six innings and allowed two hits with an ERA of 3.86. Beachy struck-out seven batters on his 111 pitches and
gave away just two walks with no earned run.
Dodgers were shaky with the bat and added just one run until the end of the game. Hiroki Kuroda had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched just over six innings with an ERA of 3.33 and surrendered five hits with two earned runs on his 101 pitches. Kuroda
struck-out only four batters on his respective innings pitched.
Game 3 – April 20: Atlanta Braves 1 – Los Angeles Dodgers 6
During the third game of the series, Braves lost 6-1. Dodgers’ second baseman Juan Uribe shined as he struck four RBIs and went 3-for-4 with an average of .219.
Matt Kemp said, “As a player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, our responsibility is just to play baseball.”
Braves’ batters took only one run in this crucial game. Derek Lowe pitched three innings and gave away five runs, nine hits, five earned runs and one walk on his 78 pitches.
Game 4 – April 21: Atlanta Braves 3 – Los Angeles Dodgers 5
Dodgers won the series finale 5-3 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Clayton Kershaw threw just over eight innings with an ERA of 3.00 and struck-out seven batters. However, a tremendous team effort gave the Dodgers
a series win against the struggling Braves.
