MLB Season Review: Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles level four-game series 2-all
American League’s Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles battled it out in a thrilling four game series. Twins and Orioles both did an imposing job as they tied the four-game series 2-2. Twins have had an amazing season as they got an exemplary Win-Loss record
during spring training season this year.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 18: Minnesota Twins 5– Baltimore Orioles 3
Twins directed a 5-3 win in the first game, as Francisco Liriano was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over six respective innings with an ERA of 7.40 and struck-out two batters in the Twins victory. Drew Butera said, “Through the course of a season,
you're going to have these little downs. It's how you respond back and how you play during those that makes the season.”
On the other side, Orioles’ batters were able to add three runs right through the complete game. Chris Tillman pitched well for the Orioles but that was not enough to grab a win for his team. He was able to strike-out just five batters during his 96 pitches
and gave away three runs including six hits with an ERA of 6.16.
Game 2 – April 19: Minnesota Twins 0– Baltimore Orioles 11
In the second game, Orioles outclassed the Twins 11-0. Orioles’ starter, Jake Arrieta pitched the ball accurately but was expensive as he threw six innings and allowed four hits with an ERA of 5.06. Arrieta struck-out four batters on his 108 pitches and
gave away three walks with no earned run.
Twins were shaky with the bat and did not add any runs until the end of the game. Carl Pavano had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched just over four innings with an ERA of 5.47 and surrendered eight hits with three walks on his 99 pitches. Pavano
had three strike-outs on his respective pitches.
Game 3 – April 20: Minnesota Twins 4– Baltimore Orioles 5
During the third game of the series, Twins lost 5-4. Orioles’ designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero shined as he struck one RBI and went 2-for-4 with an average of .268.
Twins yielded only four runs in this crucial game. Nick Blackburn pitched seven innings and gave away five runs, seven hits, five earned runs and one walk on his 88 pitches. Orioles’ manager, Buck Showalter said, “He obviously wasn't 100 percent tonight.
You could hear him wheezing in the dugout. But I'm sure the Minnesota Twins don't want to hear it.”
Game 4 – April 21: Minnesota Twins 3– Baltimore Orioles 1
Twins won the series finale 3-1 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Scott Baker threw his seven innings with an ERA of 3.24 and struck-out nine batters. However, a group effort kept the Twins and Orioles both on top
throughout the four-game series.
