MLB Season Review: Philadelphia Phillies beat New York Mets 2-1 in three-game series
National League’s Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets both went head-to-head in a thrilling three game series. Phillies did an eye-catching job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after defeating the Mets convincingly. Phillies had a remarkable
season as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the regular season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 5: New York Mets 7 – Philadelphia Phillies 1
Mets directed a 7-1 win in the first game, as Chris Young was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over five respective innings with an ERA of 1.69 and struck-out seven batters in the Mets victory. Young said, “It's special to be a part of Mets history.
I never would've dreamed that. That's a tough lineup. I was trying to make good pitches.”
On the other side, Phillies’ batters were able to add only one run right through the complete game. Cole Hamels pitched well for the Phillies but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out three batters during his 68 pitches
and gave away two walks, seven hits, six runs, no home-run and six earned runs with an ERA of 20.25.
Game 2 – April 6: New York Mets 7 – Philadelphia Phillies 10
In the second game, Phillies outclassed the Mets by 10-7. Phillies’ starter, Joe Blanton pitched the ball in accurate line but was expensive as he threw just over four innings and allowed 10 hits with an ERA of 14.54. Blanton struck-out six batters on his
77 pitches.
Speaking to interpreters, Blanton said, “I had a nice lead, I was trying to throw strikes and I got ambushed. The offense did a great job of turning it around.”
Mets remained shaky with the bat and posted just seven runs until the end of the game. Mike Pelfrey had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched two innings with an ERA of 15.63 and surrendered eight hits, seven runs, six earned runs, one walk and one
home-run on his 50 pitches.

home.”

against the struggling Mets.
