MLB Season Review: San Francisco Giants defeat Colorado Rockies 2-1 in three-game series
National League’s San Francisco Giants and Colorado Rockies fought it out in a thrilling three game series. Giants did a valuable job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after beating the Rockies convincingly. Rockies have had a remarkable season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the season.
Let us take a brief outline of these inspirational games:
Game 1 – April 18: San Francisco Giants 8 – Colorado Rockies 1
Giants directed an 8-1 win in the first game, as Tim Lincecum was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over seven respective innings with an ERA of 1.67 and struck-out 10 batters in the Giants’ victory. Troy Tulowitzki said, “He's always good, but
tonight was some of his best stuff that I've seen. And then he was getting up there 95 [mph] after CarGo got that hit.”
On the other side, Rockies’ batters were able to add only one run right through the complete game. Esmil Rogers pitched well for the Rockies but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only two batters during his 67 pitches
and gave away two walks, six hits, eight runs, three home-runs and eight earned runs with an ERA of 6.75.
Game 2 – April 19: San Francisco Giants 6 – Colorado Rockies 3
In the second game, Giants outclassed the Rockies 6-3. Giants’ starter, Jonathan Sanchez pitched the ball in accurate line as he threw just over six innings and allowed only two hits with an ERA of 3.13. Sanchez was able to strike-out just four batters during
his 96 pitches.
Speaking to reporters, Sanchez said, “It's great when you start the game 4-0. You can just go out there and pitch, throw the ball and see what happens.”
Rockies were unsteady with the bat and added just three runs until the end of the game. Ubaldo Jimenez had a troubling day with the ball as he pitched five innings with an ERA of 7.36 and surrendered six hits with two walks on his 92 pitches. Jimenez struck-out
six batters and gave away just four earned runs.

win against the struggling Rockies.
