MLB Season Review: San Francisco Giants defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1 in three-game series
National League’s San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers both went face-to-face in a thrilling three game series. Giants did a wonderful job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after defeating the Dodgers convincingly. Giants have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record.
Let us take a brief summary of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 11: Los Angeles Dodgers 6 – San Francisco Giants 1
Dodgers directed a 6-1 win in the first game, as Clayton Kershaw was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over six respective innings with an ERA of 1.37 and struck-out seven batters in the Dodgers victory. Kershaw said, “Tonight was an emotional
night with the Stow family and everybody's thoughts (with them). It was a special night with both teams having a common goal in mind.”
On the other side, Giants’ batters were able to add only one run right through the complete game. Madison Bumgarner pitched well for the Giants but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his 86
pitches and gave away four walks, eight hits, five runs, one home-run and five earned runs with an ERA of 9.00.
Game 2 – April 12: Los Angeles Dodgers 4 – San Francisco Giants 5
In the second game, Giants outclassed the Dodgers 5-4. Giants’ starter, Tim Lincecum pitched the ball accurately as he threw just over five innings and allowed six hits with an ERA of 1.86. Lincecum struck-out four batters during his 115 pitches.
Pablo Sandoval said, “We've got Wilson back. That was the Wilson we know.”
Dodgers struggled with the bat and added just four runs until the end of the game. Chad Billingsley had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched five innings with an ERA of 7.71 and surrendered seven hits with four runs on his 99 pitches. Billingsley
struck-out only six batters and gave away four earned runs.
Game 3 – April 13: Los Angeles Dodgers 3 – San Francisco Giants 4
During the last game of the series, Dodgers lost 4-3. Giants’ right-fielder Aubrey Huff shined as he struck one RBI and went 2-for-3 with an average of .261. Giants’ manager, Bruce Bochy said, “It's huge to come back and get a series. That's two series in
a row we've gotten here.”
Dodgers’ batters were able to yield only three runs in the series finale. Ted Lilly pitched six innings and gave away seven hits with four runs on his 79 pitches. However, a team effort gave the Giants a series win against the struggling Dodgers.
