MLB Season Review: St. Louis Cardinals beat Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 in four-game series
National League’s St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers both fought it out in a thrilling four game series. Cardinals did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Dodgers convincingly. Cardinals have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record.
Let us take a brief summary of these exciting games:
Game 1 – April 14: St. Louis Cardinals 9 – Los Angeles Dodgers 5

Cardinals directed a 9-5 win in the first game, as Jaime Garcia was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective five innings with an ERA of 1.35 and struck-out only two batters in the Cardinals victory. St. Louis’ manager, Tony La Russa said, “We
made some good contact and got some timely hits. We're just having good at-bats.”
On the other side, Dodgers’ batters were able to add only five runs right through the complete game. Hiroki Kuroda pitched well for the Dodgers but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out just three batters during his 83
pitches and gave away six runs including 10 hits with an ERA of 3.48.
Game 2 – April 15: St. Louis Cardinals 11 – Los Angeles Dodgers 2
In the second game, Cardinals outclassed the Dodgers 11-2. Cardinals’ starter, Kyle Lohse pitched the ball in accurate line but was expensive as he threw just over seven innings and allowed six hits with an ERA of 2.82. Lohse struck-out only two batters
on his 104 pitches and gave away one walk with two earned runs.
Dodgers were shaky with the bat and added just two runs until the end of the game. Jon Garland had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched four innings with an ERA of 11.25 and surrendered nine hits with five earned runs on his 83 pitches. Garland had
only two strike-outs on his respective pitches.
Game 3 – April 16: St. Louis Cardinals 9 – Los Angeles Dodgers 2
During third game of the series, Dodgers lost 9-2. Cardinals’ short-stop Ryan Theriot shined as he struck one RBI and went 3-for-5 with an average of .323.
Dodgers yielded just two runs in this crucial game. Clayton Kershaw pitched just over four innings and gave away five runs, six hits, five earned runs and five walks on his 111 pitches. He said, “I tried to battle my way through it, but the home run did
us in.”
Game 4 – April 17: St. Louis Cardinals 1 – Los Angeles Dodgers 2
Dodgers won the series finale 2-1 as each player executed particularly well. Chad Billingsley threw his eight innings with an ERA of 4.91 and struck-out 11 batters. However, a tremendous team effort gave the Cardinals a series win against the Dodgers.
