MLB Season Review: Tampa Bay Rays beat Minnesota Twins 3-1 in four-game series
American League’s Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays both fought well in a thrilling four game series. Rays did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Twins convincingly. Rays have had a remarkable season so far
as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during spring training season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 14: Minnesota Twins 3 – Tampa Bay Rays 4
Rays directed a 4-3 win in the first game, as James Shields was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective seven innings with an ERA of 3.98 and struck-out four batters in the Rays victory. Twins’ manager, Ron Gardenhire said, “You just keep playing.
It's part of the game. It does happen.”
On the other side, Twins’ batters were able to add only three runs right through the complete game. Carl Pavano pitched well for the Twins but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out seven batters during his 104 pitches
and gave away two walks including four hits with an ERA of 3.60.
Game 2 – April 15: Minnesota Twins 2 – Tampa Bay Rays 5
In the second game, Rays outclassed the Twins 5-2. Rays’ starter, Wade Davis pitched the ball in accurate line but was expensive as he threw seven innings and allowed four hits with an ERA of 3.26. Davis struck-out only one batter on his 100 pitches and
gave away two walks with one earned run.
Twins were shaky with the bat and added just two runs until the end of the game. Nick Blackburn had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched six innings with an ERA of 3.06 and surrendered 10 hits with five earned runs on his 87 pitches. Blackburn struck-out
six batters.
Game 3 – April 16: Minnesota Twins 3 – Tampa Bay Rays 4
During third game of the series, Twins lost 4-3. Rays’ right-fielder Matt Joyce shined as he struck one RBI and went 2-for-4 with an average of .293.
Twins’ batters yielded only three runs in this crucial game. Scott Baker pitched seven innings and gave away one run, four hits, one earned run and one walk on his 96 pitches.
Game 4 – April 17: Minnesota Twins 4 – Tampa Bay Rays 2
Twins won the series finale 4-2 as each player executed particularly well in their respective disciplines. Brian Duensing threw his seven innings with an ERA of 3.60 and struck-out five batters. However, a team effort gave the Rays the series win against
the Twins.
