Blue Jays’ batters were able to put in only two runs in the opening game. Jo-Jo Reyes threw beautifully for Toronto but that was not adequate to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only four batters on his 92 pitches and permitted four hits

of 3.06.
Farrell said, “I thought there was a differing opinion based on the reactions [of the pitcher and catcher]. At that point he said 'You're gone.' It caught me by surprise.”
Rays struggled with the bat and were able to take only two runs until the end of the game. Jeff Niemann had a shaky day with the ball as he threw four innings with an ERA of 5.74 and gave away six hits and three runs without any strike-out on his 62 pitches.
