MLB Season Review: Texas Rangers beat Baltimore Orioles 2-1 in three-game series
American League’s Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles both battled it out in a thrilling three game series. Rangers did an amazing job as they sealed a 2-1 victory in this series after defeating the Orioles convincingly. Rangers have had a remarkable season
so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record during the early spring training season.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 9: Texas Rangers 0 – Baltimore Orioles 5
Orioles directed a 5-0 win in the first game, as Zach Britton was incredible with his pitching. He threw just over seven respective innings with an ERA of 0.66 and struck-out two batters in the Orioles victory. Speaking to reporters, Britton said, “It felt
really good. There was a couple times with two strikes, they got pretty loud. I got goose bumps there; it takes a little bit to get used to.”
On the other side, Rangers’ batters were unable to add any run right through the complete game. Colby Lewis pitched well for the Rangers but that was not enough to steal a win for his team. He was able to strike-out four batters during his 95 pitches and
gave away one walk, six hits, five runs, two home-runs and four earned runs with an ERA of 5.25.
Game 2 – April 9: Texas Rangers 13 – Baltimore Orioles 1
In the second game, Rangers outclassed the Orioles 13-1. Rangers’ starter, Matt Harrison pitched the ball in accurate line as he threw seven innings and allowed two hits with an ERA of 1.29. Harrison struck-out three batters on his 109 pitches.
Orioles’ manager Buck Showalter said, “He'll probably get an MRI on Monday to make sure what we are dealing with, but I look for him to be a DL candidate.”
Orioles were shaky with the bat and added just one run until the end of the game. Jake Arrieta had an insecure day with the ball as he pitched just over three innings with an ERA of 8.68 and surrendered six hits with two walks on his 77 pitches. Arrieta
struck-out five batters.
Game 3 – April 10: Texas Rangers 3 – Baltimore Orioles 0
During last game of the series, Orioles lost 3-0. Rangers’ second baseman Ian Kinsler shined as he had two RBIs and went 2-or-4 with an average of .250.
Orioles’ batters were unable to yield any run in the series finale. Jeremy Guthrie pitched six innings for the Orioles and gave away one run, four hits, one earned run and one walk on his 84 pitches. However, a decent team effort gave the Rangers the series
win against the struggling Orioles.
