MLB Season Review: Toronto Blue Jays beat Texas Rangers 3-1 in four-game series
American League’s Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers fought it out in an exciting four game series. Blue Jays were amazing and did an apparent job as they completed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Rangers.
Let us take an overview and see how the Blue Jays dominate the Rangers.
Game 1 – April 25: Toronto Blue Jays 6 – Texas Rangers 4
Blue Jays directed a 6-4 win in the first game, as Kyle Drabek was incredible with his pitching. He threw his respective six innings with an ERA of 3.30 and struck-out two batters in the Blue Jays victory. Rangers’ manager, Ron Washington said, “When you're
bitten, that's the type of thing that happens. He tried to go up and he still hits a three-run home run.”
On the other side, Rangers’ batters were able to score only four runs right through the complete game. Colby Lewis threw nicely for the Rangers but that was not enough to earn a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only three batters during his 95
pitches and gave away four walks including seven hits with an ERA of 6.95.
Game 2 – April 26: Toronto Blue Jays 10 – Texas Rangers 3
In the second game, Blue Jays outclassed the Rangers 10-3. Blue Jays’ starter, Jesse Litsch pitched the ball accurately as he threw six innings and allowed seven hits with an ERA of 3.86. Litsch struck-out only one batter on his 92 pitches and gave away
two walks with three earned runs.
Rangers struggled with the bat and contributed just three runs until the end of the game. Matt Harrison had an average day with the ball as he pitched three innings with an ERA of 3.69 and surrendered eight hits with seven earned runs on his 60 pitches.
Harrison struck-out only one batter on his respective pitched innings.
Game 3 – April 27: Toronto Blue Jays 6 – Texas Rangers 7
During the third game of the series, Blue Jays lost 7-6. Rangers’ first baseman Mike Napoli shined as he struck two RBIs and went 1-for-4 with an average of .289.
Washington said, “They got it done. At that point we had the right people on the mound.”
Blue Jays’ batters took six runs in this crucial game. Jo-Jo Reyes pitched just over two innings and gave away six runs, five hits, no earned run and one walk on his 53 pitches.
Game 4 – April 28: Toronto Blue Jays 5 – Texas Rangers 2
Blue Jays won the series finale 5-2 as each player performed particularly well in their respective departments. Brandon Morrow threw his six innings with an ERA of 3.97 and struck-out six batters. However, the Blue Jays were on top till the last game and
sealed an impressive series victory.
