MLB Season Review: Washington Nationals sweep Milwaukee Brewers 3-0
National League’s Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers both battled it out in a thrilling four game series. Nationals did a noticeable job as they sealed a 3-1 victory in this series after defeating the Brewers convincingly. Nationals have had a remarkable
season so far as they got an acceptable Win-Loss record.
Let us take a brief summary of these inspiring games:
Game 1 – April 15: Milwaukee Brewers 3 – Washington Nationals 4
Nationals directed a 4-3 win in the first game, as Tom Gorzelanny was impressive with his pitching. He had four strike-outs with an ERA of 5.56 in the Nationals convincing victory. Jayson Werth said, “I just had something there. We're having a hard time
getting the bats going. When that's the case, you have to do something extra a little bit.”
On the other side, Brewers’ batters got only three runs in the whole game. Chris Narveson pitched well for the Brewers but that was not enough to secure a win for his team. He was able to strike-out only five batters on his 101 pitches and permitted five
hits with three earned runs.
Game 2 – April 17: Milwaukee Brewers 4 – Washington Nationals 8
In the second game, Nationals outclassed the Brewers 8-4. Nationals’ starter, Jason Marquis threw the ball in good line as he pitched seven innings and surrendered just two runs, nine hits, one walk, no home-run and two earned runs on his 100 pitches. Marquis
had four strike-outs with an ERA of 3.26.
Speaking to reporters, Marquis said, “I was just trying to keep the team in the game as best as possible, and the offense exploded there in the middle innings.”
Brewers were shaky with the bat and added just four runs until the end of the game. Yovani Gallardo had a bad day with the ball as he threw just over five innings with an ERA of 4.62 and gave away 10 hits, seven runs, no walk, two homers and seven earned
runs on his 107 pitches.
Game 3 – April 17: Milwaukee Brewers 1 – Washington Nationals 5
During final game of the series, Brewers lost 5-1. Nationals’ third baseman Jerry Hairston Jr. shined as he completed two runs including one RBI and went 3-for-3 with an average of .154. Livan Hernandez pitched his seven innings superbly to give the Nationals
a valuable victory.
Brewers’ batters were able to yield only one run in a series finale. Marco Estrada pitched six innings and gave away one run, five hits, one earned run and one walk on his 96 pitches. However, a decent team effort kept the Nationals on top against the Brewers
throughout the series.
