MLB Special: 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training: National League outlook
Although most are looking to the American League for fireworks during the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training session, the National League is not to be undone. Teams like the defending World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks,
San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies will be looking to put in a good performance and make an impact during Spring Training.
The outlook of the top teams from the National League during Spring Training is as follows:
National League East
The teams too look for in this Division is the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins. The Phillies have the pitching depth to take out any top batting line-up in the League. The team will make a definite impact during Spring Training as
they are healthy and full of confidence. The Braves had a decent season last year and will want to continue to build some momentum during Spring Training. The club has a good opportunity this year to find the perfect balance between their rotation and line-up
before the regular season begins. The Miami Marlins have a new name and a whole new outlook this year. The team wants to come out strong and show the rest of the League their new approach towards winning.
National League Central
Defending World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals will definitely look to dominate Spring Training this year. They will want to prove to the rest of the League that losing Albert Pujols to the Angels has not affected the team and that they are still very
competitive. The team will come out swinging and do whatever it takes to maintain their winning momentum for last season. Another team that will do well during Spring Training is the Chicago Cubs. After some miserable seasons, the team is completely revamped
from the top down. The club has changed the way they approach the business of baseball and Spring Training will give the team the perfect platform to achieve some much needed success.
National League West
The San Francisco Giants had a poor season last year, as they suffered numerous injuries to key players. However, this year they are looking strong and healthy as players like Brian Wilson and Buster Posey are back in action. The Giants will make a strong
impact during Spring Training to regain some prestige in the League. The Arizona Diamondbacks will also be looking to put in a good performance during Spring Training. Last year the Diamondbacks dominated the Division and showed the rest of the League how
powerful they are. During Spring Training the Diamondbacks will get the perfect opportunity to show their tremendous strength and give the other teams something to worry about.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, although they are up for sale and had a mixed season last year, the team has tremendous potential of putting in a good show during Spring Training. Once they get their managerial issues settled, the team will want to put all of the
confusion behind them and try to compete.
As most of the big name player acquisitions and mega contracts took place in the American League, most critics feel the National League will be left out in the cold this year. However, teams like the Cardinals, Giants and Diamondbacks will definitely have
something to say about that this year.
