MLB Special - Where is Mark Buehrle heading?
The 2011 Major League Baseball season has ended with a tremendous World Series triumph for the St. Louis Cardinals as they defeated the Texas Rangers in a crunch best-of-seven encounter.
As the World Series was decided, the American media turned their intention towards Mark Buehrle and his future commitment with the Chicago White Sox as the 2011 MLB season was his last contractual year with the team. Now people across the baseball world
wanted to know what Buehrle is thinking over his future game plan. Many experts predicted that the White Sox will retain him and give him another potential contract. At the same time this new contract will be a great opportunity for him to end his career from
the very platform from where he virtually entered into Major League Baseball.
Many were predicting and stating in the media that the White Sox management will give him another contract but the team management just did their little planning for giving him a new contract and could not prepare it on the time while Buehrle declared himself
a free agent and stated officially that he is ready playing for any MLB team in the future.
Buehrle’s agent Jeff Berry has also said, “Mark is not going to eliminate any team from free-agent consideration, but having pitched 12 years in the American League, the National League certainly will have some appeal to him. There is no DH. It’s obviously
less of a hitter’s league. And Mark has had great success in his career against the National League.”
This was the real turning point in Buehrle’s saga that created a loud message among other MLB teams who wanted to sign him. No one has ever objected regarding his star calibre and the way he plays the game on the baseball field with extraordinary pitching
skills which are the primary source of his phenomenal fame.
Soon the race for acquiring Buehrle started and many teams including the New York Yankees, Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, Los Angeles Angels,
Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, and Texas Rangers did make some contact with Buehrle and his agent, but could not convince both in any regard.
On a different prospective, this was also a very interesting fact that for one particular player, all these teams were anxious to sign as no other MLB player has got so much attention in the recent past. On the other hand, Buehrle did not feel any pressure
to sign with any of these teams instead he is still waiting for the best option for his future.
Many talks and speculations are still coming for his future but no one is sure as to where he is heading. Recently, some baseball experts and some inside sources close to Buehrle have started saying that he might come back into the White Sox roster. After
receiving plenty of offers from all the major MLB teams, this is looking potentially viable that Buehrle is heading into White Sox next season.
However, nothing is clear as these sources and experts are right in stating the fact that Buehrle himself wants to play for the White Sox again. His affiliation with White Sox has stretched almost over eleven years and now and he will be more than happy
to stay in the White Sox until his last game of his professional baseball career.
