MLB Team Outlook: Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers are a team that scarcely disappoints their fans when it comes to winning games. Having played some of the great games this season, the team has been a source of inspiration for their supporters for decades.
Having occupied the seventh position in the Major League ranking, they have a record of seven-game winning streak, including winning 15 of last 22 games that they have played. It does not, however, stop there.
Having left behind the Los Angeles Angels in the Western division, the Rangers have safely secured the top position with their 51 wins and 41 losses. The Angels, however, do pose some threat to the Rangers.
The Angels have won 15 of their last 18 games, making known their intention of going harder. But nonetheless, if only one has a look at the offence of the Rangers, a lot becomes clear.
Michael Young, one of the endearing assets the Rangers proudly possess, has had five homers, 22 RBIs and 40 hits since June 10, making himself someone far more challenging to tackle.
"We've finally got the type of baseball moving in the direction we're capable of playing," manager Ron Washington said. "It was a while coming, but we finally got there. We know what we have to do and how we have to do it."
What, however, came as heart-wrenching was the last week’s incident that took a fan’s life during the Rangers’ game. Shannon Stone, the fire-fighter who lost his life during the game, got support from every quarter in Texas.
The big name among them was that of Josh Hamilton who found it tragic. But as his emotions subside, having 49 RBIs to his credit and 11 homers – boasting .301 batting, Hamilton is another player the pitchers have to grapple with.
Having missed the games for a period of a month, suffering from broken bone in his upper right arm, Hamilton too is bracing to come back. Once he has returned, the Rangers will be in a much stronger position to overpower the rival teams.
As they have taken a four-day break recently before the All-Star game, the Rangers have a lot of reassuring things to go ahead with more force against their rivals. Winning seven games in row and 15 in 22 games, the Rangers certainly hold a great track record
so far.
Among other things, the Rangers have had the average of 7.6 runs and hold a batting average of .351 during the last seven-games run to move a season-best 10 games over .500.
Having taken into consideration their record, it becomes obvious that the Rangers – backed by a well-guarded defence and an aggressively forward-looking offence, have the capability to win more of their games.
As the four-day break comes to an end and the All-Star games’ gusto subsides, the Rangers will take on the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, July 14. The Mariners, like said earlier, come with 15 wins in 18 games.
While both teams are undeniably strong and can pose tremendous challenge to each other, the Rangers have got certain advantage and have an edge on the Seattle Mariners owing to their capable and lethal combination of offence and defence.
