MLB Update: Minnesota Twins making life easy for Tsuyoshi Nishioka in Minneapolis
The Minnesota Twins have a lot of things developing on their side. One of the errands that come with the acquisition of a top quality player points at soothing out the adaptation process. Tsuyoshi Nishioka, who was signed on from the Japanese outfit, Chiba
Lotte Marines, has come into the squad. His translation from a home grown player to a foreign one comes with a lot of costs and for the ball club, this provides a surmountable challenge.
The top teams in the league, barely have experienced foreign players on the roster. It is only understandable to see the club look into a new realm of baseball, altogether. Minneapolis is an American state with basic American Western culture. When one would
look at the situation, an understanding would come, relating to the matter topping the agenda for the Twins.
The organization however has made the necessary arrangements to accommodate the player and his wife. Manager Ron Gardenhire was more than eager to talk about the progress availed in the player’s adaption process.
"There is the unknown of how he's going to be able to handle everything, how long it's going to take him to adjust," Ron Gardenhire said.
"But it's kind of a neat thing for the organization to have him here. It's something very different and I look forward to it, honestly. I think we'll have some fun with it."
The challenge may be new for Ron but the real question is; will it pay off? Only time will tell whether it does or not. However, Gardenhire has been given the task to learn up on Japanese. In a press conference, he was seen entering the area with a book
titles, ‘Survival Japanese’.
"We want to do everything we can to make Tsuyoshi and his wife comfortable here," said Ron."At the same time, we are a very close team and one of the things we expressed throughout the negotiations was that we're a family. We do not want a family
of two, being one player and an interpreter, and then a group of 24. We are still looking to maintain a group, a family of 25 guys in the clubhouse."
The Twins signed Nishioka on a three year deal, valued at $9.25 million. Fans see the signing cost low, even if the posting fee of $5 million was attached to the package. However, the question still remains: was signing Nishioka worth it?
