Question:

MLB to investigate the Manny Ramirez trade. How do you feel about that?

I heard the MLB is going to be investigating the trade that involved Manny going to the Dodgers. Someone questioned if Manny played horribly on purpose so that the Red Sox would have to trade him.

Do you believe this is true, what do you think?

  1. Well Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe first ran this story.  However, the LA Times has reported that there will be no formal inquiry.  I will leave you a few links to the articles.

I personally would love to see Manny get suspended for his actions(or rather inactions).  However, as a realist I can see why this won't go anywhere further than a possible fine for Manny(which won't happen).  MLB can't suspend Manny now, that would hurt the Dodgers.  They also can't suspend him or ban him because that would keep other teams from resigning him, thus costing the Dodgers two draft picks.  And if they fined him, he might decide to take a couple of days off when the Dodgers need him most.  Really, MLB has its hands tied when it comes to this.  Manny and Boras found a way to game the system, in order to get what they wanted.  Lets just hope there aren't any teams out there that are dumb enough to give Manny the contract he is looking for.  Wait, what am I saying??

  2. ESPN said there's going to be no investigation.

  3. its obvious he was playin bad in boston just to get traded, if someone doesnt see that then they must be blind  or retarded (no offence to blind or retarded people).

  4. Thats all we need is more investigations. Is this some kind of surprise? It was obvious he was under acheiving. He isnt the first athlete to do this and wont be the last.It was Manny being Manny.I really don't care what they do as long as congress does'nt get involved and waste any more of our money on baseball investigations. The money we spent on Clemons investigation could have been spent on alternative energy or oil drilling or buying more oil reserves. Its a good thing Giamonni is not alive or he may banish Manny from baseball.Im just peavyed at all the bull c**p investigations, acusations.

  5. First off, how can anyone prove that?

Secondly, I can't believe that the Dodgers would've taken him if that was the case.

    This is a crock!!

  6. If there was a way to prove that Manny was really dogging it, what could MLB do?

I am not trying to be a smarta$$ here...seriously, what could the punishment be? If a player isnt playing 'up tp his abilities' wouldnt it be up to the manager to bench him? If Francona didnt do that when he was in Boston before the trade, why should (and how could) he be punished now.

I havent heard anything about this (probably because since the trade, I have pretty much tuned out everybody complaining/complimenting the trade) so there may be more to the story then I know...I just didnt think that MLB could fine or suspend someone just because they are not playing as good as they could

  7. I feel they should investigate it because it really hurts the image of baseball!  I think that there are other players who done similar things (Vince Carter - Toronto Raptors) to get out of Toronto......

Anyways, Boston scored big on Jason Bay!! He is much better and younger then Manny.

Jason Bay really improved the Boston Red Sox, so nothing to lose there.

He's not the first baby who whined his way out and he won't be the last.

  8. Very shaky.  A lot of sports commentators are wondering how can they prove that?  Just a formality I assume.

  9. i really don't care, he is lighting up the scoreboard in over here in the west,so it really doesn't matte.....besides, i thought he was doing that a long time ago.....

  10. Manny had pulled this garbage for the last few years.  Dogging it right before the trade deadline and then when the Red Sox didn't trade him he somehow finds a way to perform.  They just got tired of the act and got rid of him.

  11. I think Manny has been a professional player since his debut in the Dominican Republic, and, being in the top of his career, he is not going put in risks his economic future by getting involved in problems with Red Sox. Dodgers would have taken into account before accepting him.
