Question:

MLK Holiday- what are we celebrating?

I honor the message of Dr King- his message is God's message- healing wounds, bringing people together, forgiveness and uniting the races.

On MLK Day, the liberal media will bring you another message- Jessie Jackson's & Al Sharpton's- race baiting, increasing racial tension, getting even and exploiting black people for Jackson's and Sharpton's wealth and power. What we will hear and read from the liberal media is the perversion of Dr King's message, instead of the spirit and message of Dr King's message.

How have we allowed the race baiters to hijack Dr King's message?

Why not honor Dr King by standing up to the false leaders and follow his true message?

  1. civil disobedience.  Attacking the core of immoral laws through non-violent methods of protest.  The power of people through unity and understanding.

  2. It's not like Christmas...It's more like a remembrance.

At this point, America needs to be reminded of the blood shed for racial equality.

Too much damage has been done in the past 7 years.

Whites who are aware quietly honor this day, as do many others from other races.

  3. You are correct.  Most of us accept what MLK stood for and know a little bit about his "I have a dream" speech.  It made a mark in American history and left a legacy.  There is NOTHING that our kids will see in Jesse jackson's legacy.  Nothing positive that is.  Here's a guy who stuck up for a prostitute, even though she lied about the Duke kids raping her.

Jesse is NOT the same as MLK.  If anyone is honest and reads MLK's "I have a dream" speech, they will see that Jesse and Al are not fulfilling the dream.

  4. If King were alive today you would be calling him a race baiter also. Jesse Jackson was standing next to King when he was assassinated. He knows a bit more about the message than you do. What Jackson and Sharpton have done is continue to fight against racism into the 21st century. The message of course does not sound the same in 2007 that it did in 1967. The reason? A lot has changed since those days. We live in an America where racists are now the minority so those that make a public outcry against it are considered more of the problem than the solution. This is because most of us who are not racists would rather not have to hear about it as it does not affect us. We now believe that we have arrived at a point where we can simply move to total equality by acting colorblind and not discussing race. This may or may not be the case but we cannot ignore the fact those such as Sharpton and Jackson who sat in jail cells with King, are partly responsible for helping us get here to begin with.

  5. I will celebrate by keeping in mind what Dr. King stated, "Our lives begin to end when we stay silent on things that matter!"

I will not stay silent and my voice and words will be heard. We must not elect racists, [Hillary Clinton] to the office of the presidency.

We must not succumb to todays Democrats who would have us all oppressed. Jackson are Sharpton are the worst oppressors and racists and want to continue the division among all races.

When you make a people dependent on the government for food , shelter, and health care.  You are creating the worst type of oppression.

Let freedom ring, and keep free enterprise alive!

  6. Are we there yet? Is the playing field level? Who continues to make decisions for America? Why do people, in 2008, continue to focus on the color of our skin? Lets honor Dr. King and those who were with him by changing they way we deal with difference.

  7. Another day off of work/school, YEAH!!!

  8. i have to work :(

  9. Simple: Because it's what the lemming leaders will have you do. Come on! Jump on the bandwagon with the rest! You're absolutely right, of course.

  10. around here, it seems we are celebtating car sales and furniture sales.

  11. why? he was a whoremonger just like bill clinton

  12. This is an ad hominem attack born of Limbaugh-style pseudo-conservative hate.  But WHAT is it you hate?  Are you so misinformed that you do not know that the media are owned and controlled by five corporations?  How can they be liberal?  Do you even know what "liberal" means?  Do you not know that what is called conservatism today is really corporatism?

Cool down, get a rational head, and look hard at where the resources are going in this country.  Look at a country with no more manufacturing base, with nothing but debt, internal and external, to show for the policy of the pro-corporatist Bush administration.  Look at a country where we spend almost twice as much per person on health as does any other country, yet we fail to cover almost 50 million of our own citizens (an increase of over 10 million since the Clinton administration).  Look at a country where torture has become acceptable among many of us and where "conservatives" (conservatives would do this?) are fighting to give up our rights others fought and bled for in the name of protection from terrorism.

The least credible part of your "question" is the last question, because you misrepresented Dr. King's message.  His message, like Jesus' message, brought a sword, not union and peace.  It had to, because the hate you spew is the same hate that was directed at him--by people who called themselves conservatives!

Still, if you are serious about bringing people together, get off the angry (and false) anti-liberal emotional tear and focus with honest thought and analysis on the real problems of debt, corporate control, corruption, and fear of losing jobs and health care.

Pseudo-conservatives, unlike true conservatives seek only validation of their anger, hate, and prejudices.  Consequently, I look for them to award me a garland of thumbs down!

  13. People who don't understand the difference between Dr King's message and what Jackson and Sharpton are doing are not really interested in ending racial conflict.  These people are fueling racial conflict to promote their own  political agenda.  By exploiting civil rights, the political power gained is used to promote other agendas.

Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are perfect examples of absolute corruption permeated throughout liberalism.

Is it any surprise Jackson was given a honorary degree and never graduated seminary; he is a fraud. Sharpton has no congregation or church.

Jackson funnels "tax exempt" funds from corporations that pay him for 'consultation services" aka shakedown money. Jackson won't allow an audit and no political figure has the courage to demand an investigation into millions of dollars, funneled to Jackson, tax free.

If democrats really advocated civil rights for black Americans, they would denounce Jackson and Sharpton &  support black leaders who follow Dr King's message.

  14. Voting in promay for   hussein

    improving upon message of MLK

    muslim + Black

  15. I spent time in jail with Doctor King in 1959. It was after a sit-in at a public library in a town in Georgia that wouldn't issue library cards to African-Americans. As for the liberal media, you have to keep in mind that they don't known very much about those days because they weren't alive at the time. If you approach someone from the "progressive political" crowd and give them this quote, they will want to know what right-wing nut job said that:

"If a man cannot find something he is willing to die for, that man is not fit to live".

It was the Reverend Martin Luther King. Jr.!

If you have to listen to any of the African-American leaders tomorrow, then listen to Congressman John Lewis, the Deputy Majority Whip of the House of Representatives. He was there that day in Georgia.
