MLS soccer team recruitment?

i am a 14 yr old boy i like playing lots of soccer i am a really really good goalie i haven't been in a soccer team ever but i am going to try out in my schools soccer team but i live in a small town named los banos in california, do soccer scouts go to see school soccer teams play?

i want to play in the MLS for the San Jose Earthquakes do they recruit kids at this age? do they have like a reserve division? do the MLS soccer teams have like some type of club or school for younger kids?

Oh, too bad you're a goalkeeper and not a midfielder, because Chivas USA - already decimated by injuries - just lost Jesse Marsch for at least 2 months because of a fractured jaw sustained in Thursday's game against the LA Galaxy.

Chivas'd probably sign you and start you in their game against San Jose next Saturday.

As for the Earthquakes, forget it, they don't need anybody.

As a 14 year old you're going to have a hard time signing a professional contract.  However, if you were looking to be seen by scouts, most likely college scouts, you're probably going to be looking at playing with a traveling team.

ODP district tryouts (sorry I don't actually know what district you'd be in) were in May so you're a little late for that.  And generally comp season's tryouts aren't around this time either.

Playing for high school is fine, but to get seen i'd imagine you gotta be playing CYSA.  Which for you (I'm guessing here) means going to Merced.  I'd search for the Merced CYSA league give them a call, figure out when their tryouts are.

But as far as getting seen by pro scouts or any sort of MLS team, that's going to be a bit further down the road, though the best route for that if you really are that good, is going to be through ODP (district level, then state, then regional)

You live you close to me, i live in Selma,,tell you what..you ever hear of the california oddysey? well its a team in Clovis..the have something called ODP if you go and play there and they see that youre good theyll put you to play with your age group and from there TONS of scouts go to those games..Trust me visit theyre website and ask..or try Merced Atlas academy
