MLS update: Red Bulls’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carey-Talley-c8320 retires
Rumours of Red Bulls defensive midfielder, Carey Talley’s retirement have been confirmed. The maestro from Major League Soccer has finally bid farewell to soccer after serving for 13 years in the American League on 19 January 2010.
Talley capped in 315 season fixtures overall, which happens to be the 8th highest when talking about regular season matches in MLS.
The player was drafted in the 1998 MLS College Draft and he was acquired by D.C. United during the 14th turn, which proved to be a blessing in disguise.
Despite being a newcomer in the team, his performance was very impressive right from the start. The player helped the club win the 1998 CONCACAF Champions Cup and the Interamerican Cup.
He started in 16 of the 18 matches during the end and if that was not enough to gain early stardom he became a featured regular just after his rookie season. In 1999 he was the fulcrum of his team’s defence, which ultimately helped
his club achieve the MLS Cup of 1999.
Talley played for the capital team until the year of 2002. He was then transferred to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chivas-USA-c38798. Nonetheless, 2010 saw D.C. United reacquiring him
in March and he was later traded to New York Red Bulls in September of the same year.
Talley has produced 20 goals along with 28 assists in his MLS career. He declared his retirement in a press release and also commented of his satisfaction over his achievement.
He was thankful for the support and time he was gifted with, “I would like to sincerely thank my family, all of my friends, and fans that have accompanied me throughout the last 13 years.”
The star continued his speech by adding on the good times he had with MLS, “I am proud to have been a part of the growth of MLS from its infancy to a league that has become a destination for world-class players. What a privilege
for me to have been given the opportunity to follow my dreams and go out and compete with my peers everyday to make myself a better player and person.”
