MMA: Dave Batista - The WWE animal intends to step into the MMA Cage
Rumours always spread like forest-fire and create a lot of hype. There has been some very interesting WWE gossip going on recently, which grabbed the attention of masses and generated anxiety among them. The much talked-about controversy is about the famous World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar David Michael Batista, commonly known as “Dave Batista”. Also known as the “the animal in the ring,” Batista has been the centre of attention lately.
Dave Batista made his Wrestling debut in 2000 and became instantly noticeable in his early games. In WWE, he became the six-time World Heavy Weight Champion. Batista won four titles for World Heavy Weight Championship and two titles for World Wrestling Championship.
He faced a number of great players in the ring and fought the finest of combats on WWE platform. On May 24, 2010, he played an “I quit” match with the other WWE superstar John Flex Cena. Batista couldn’t bring his authority to the game and lost the game which forced him to bid farewell to the WWE Company.
After ending his career with WWE, Batista seemed to show his interest in stepping into the cage as an MMA fighter. On June 16, 2010, he attended Strikeforce festival in Los Angeles.
After his departure from the WWE platform, various rumours were flying in the air. A large number of people believed that he was going to hunt fame in the film industry, as Batista already had the exposure to media world. He acted in various TV commercials and was featured on numerous popular magazines. Batista entering the big screen industry was not a bad idea at all. Media affiliation can bring you much income these days but this was just another speculation made by this fans.
However, his presence at the Strikeforce, Los Angeles, created a huge buzz that he was going to join Strikforce and would take on the challenge of real fighting. Some critics speculate that Batista underwent a professional training for an MMA career. There are also rumours that Batista has confirmed his contract with Strikeforce to TMZ. Although, he refused to mention who his first opponent will be, but former WWE champion Bobby Lashley’s name has been roaming around for quite a few-time.
On contrary, Strikeforce’s spokesperson, Mike Aftomowitz has solely refused the news that they have signed the 41-year old WWE player.
Talking about Batista’s good body-built and athleticism, his size and strength alone is definitely an extra edge for him to appear in MMA. He was called “the beast” in WWE due to his enormous volume. He stands 6’6” tall, weighing 290 lbs, and he has a great temperament. He has years of learning at World Wrestling Entertainment at his hand, which could really help him pursue another MMA career. Considering all these factors, he has high probability of overtaking the MMA arena.
Although his fans muse that Batista is quite suitable for the MMA, but the critics have a different say altogether. They say that the MMA players are very hardcore and they train for years. Just a massive body does not mean that Batista would make it in MMA. Every sport has its own unique style and only because a player was a big shot and amazing in another sport doesn’t mean that it holds the same for MMA.
Another former WWE star Booker T had the similar opinion that Batista cannot match-up with the big boys in Strikeforce. He emphasized that Batista will not be able to stand for 5 minutes in front of the MMA big guns.
Now if Batista is actually stepping into the cage; it will be a worth-watching contest. It will also help in pulling some of the WWE fans to MMA.
