  1. The clinch isn't grappling BTW, but to answer your question it's called "center of gravity" think about the over hook for a second .... it's less stable if the opponenet has the underhook right?  Now think about the underhook ..... you obviously feel more in control .... you're able to pull the opponent to you tighter for a possible hip toss if you really chose to right?  You could even pull in on his lower back and press your chin into his chest causing him to lose his balance and fall.....and why? ..... "the center of gravity".  Way more control from the underhook position bro.  I know that there will be many with their own version of the importance of the underhook, but I like my own the best.  Keep It Simple Yo!!! .... I'm not trying to write a book.

  2. d**n dude just think about it

  3. I personally prefer overhooks. They keep my hands free to eye gouge/rabbit punch.

  4. olibabwa hahahahahahahahahahahaha good one....

yeah william p is right though, think about it, what are you physically gonna do with overhooks...

  5. Clinch work is grappling as far as I am concerned.

William P said it pretty well, aside from being able to bring someone tighter, you can do more to their center of gravity because you can lift and change someone's center with an underhook.

With an overhook you can only bring someone forward or down, no leverage to lift, essentially making it harder to throw them, or get underneath them.

With an underhook, you can lift a person, or change their center of balance, making it easier to off balance them and throw them, also allows more control through tightness.
