  1. Wai Kru caters to all levels, usually more experienced students are expected to get themselves going with their warm up. New students can expect much more attention to get them up to speed. The result being that as a newbie you will get more one on one time, which will get you to the point that no matter what time you arrive you will be able to get your warm up started before getting with a trainer for pad work. Its very like Thailand training, the more you are there and put in the more you will get out.

The best thing about Wai Kru is once you are a member ALL classes and gym times are open to you, over 70 hours per week. Most other gyms will give you 3 classes a week for a similar price, you can take three a day if you want at Wai Kru.

Best advice I can give is take your gear and go train for the day, its free. Then decide.

  2. Wai Kru is a good place with nice facilities and flexible hours. The down-side is that you're often left to your own devices, if you don't arrive during a class time.

The Chinese Kickboxing and Submission Grappling Club in Roslindale sq is another good place. the gym isn't as big as Wai Kru but the instruction is top notch and they work you REALLY hard. The main coach has an extensive background in San Shou and Boxing, but has competed in Vale Tudo events and is an excellent grappler. There's also a wrestling coach there that was a Division 1 Wrestler. There's classes every day (except Sunday), but they're only at certain hours.

In Summerville, there's a Sityodtong. I've never been there, but one of my friends goes there and he's pretty kickass. Some famous fighters (Kenny Florian, Jorge Rivera) train out of there.

As far as I know all of these places allow you to take a free class. Chinese Kickboxing Club will let you have a free first week, to let you sample. Try all of them out, and see what you think.
