MMA fighter Chael Sonnen takes shots at Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre and Brock Lesnar
Anderson “The Spider” Silva vs. Chael Sonnen was the main feature of Ultimate Fighting Championship 117. Sonnen was the underdog going into the octagon, but quickly became the favourite as he dominated the UFC middleweight champion for most of the five-round
fight. Sonnen looked primed to score the victory when Silva clamped on a triangle choke and Sonnen was forced to tap out with 1:50 left in the fight.
Before the fight, Sonnen was very vocal with his opinions on Silva and those opinions were not favourable, calling him a “dirtbag”, and referring to him as “easily the most unpopular fighter in this company (UFC).”
Sonnen has returned and this time he is verbally accosting more than just Anderson Silva. Sonnen offered the following about a potential bout with current UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, stating, “I’d say ‘GSP, lemme ask you a serious question.
Do you have a designated driver, someone to get you home safely?’ ‘Cause clearly you’re intoxicated.’ I would say, ‘GSP, did you lose a bet with God?’ ‘GSP, bring your $3000 suit, bring your three-dollar date and get the three cent tan beat off your socialist
back.’ That’s what I would tell GSP.”
On a more flattering note, Sonnen said, “GSP has beat everybody in the division (welterweight), and he’s beaten them for the second time.”
Sonnen made it clear he wants a rematch with Silva, “I don’t care how long it goes. I like beating up Anderson Silva. That’s the honest truth. I like punching him ‘cause you know what a bully he is. He punched my friends. He beat up two teammates of mine
and I haven’t forgotten that.”
Sonnen saved his biggest verbal jab for current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, with “...if Brock Lesnar were here right now, I’d take my boot off and throw it at him. And he better polish it up before he brings it back to me. That guy comes around
here talkin’ about he’s the baddest guy in the UFC? Are you kidding me? I’d slap you in the face and you wouldn’t do anything about it, Brock. ‘But I’m Brock Lesnar! I’ve got this $5 haircut and a knife tattooed on my chest!”
Sonnen’s next fight will most likely be months away, but we are sure to hear more from him before he steps into the octagon again.
