ok so i just recently decided i wanna get into mma/kickboxing and ive never done it before because ive been in football and i LOVE ufc, im a die hard fan and i really wanna start getting into because im tired of fighting on the streets and i wanna use my skills positively and my mom doesnt want me to get into it because she thinks its dangerous but i dont think it is and ive been in fights and im not saying just cause ive been in fights that i can just go in and kick *** because i know it takes time and dedication and good work ethics to become great so should i take this up and start going or should i just stick to football and fight on the streets ?

oh yea when would a good time to do this be because i have football in the fall after school like every other dayand we work out from winter till fall so when would a good time to do this be ?

  1. If you want to grapple, do MMA. If you want to strike, do Kickboxing.

  2. If you are taking it up as your primary sport they are both great.  However, if you are using it to supplement football, since you'll already be taking so many headshots and getting rattled so much, you might give your brain the break and go with MMA.  You can't tap out in kickboxing and the A number 1 target is the head.  In MMA you'll still have the strikes, but you'll work a lot of different skills and grappling as well.  The wrestling might even help with your tackling.

Both are great though.  You should definitely do one or the other.

  3. If your question is which one to choose... I say go Mixed Martial Arts. I think that Kick Boxing as an individual sport may be popular internationally but MMA is going to be the most watched combat sport worldwide in the forseable future.

  4. For sure take it up bro.. if anything it'll help you in football too... check out the gyms in your area and try a few classes.. usually MMA gyms will let you try an intro class for free.. look up who's teaching it cuz there's a lot of guys who think they know MMA or BJJ etc and they arent for real... once you get a taste of the real thing.. fighting in the streets wont matter no more bro.. it also depends on what area you live in... hit me up if you need help with that.. I've been training MMA for about 3 years and BJJ for 6..
