MODEL MAKING - whats the best type of glue to use?

i'm building a model which is a house. at the moment i've been using glue gun but it seems to make so much mess and very unprofessional. at the end my model just looks like piece of c**p because there's too much glue. i really need your help!

If your using wood to build your house try carpenters wood glue or super glue, I use it to build my RC airplanes!

If your using plastic, testors model glue or ca glue,it comes in various thickness(super thin,thin,medium,and thick)

You can purchase these glues at your local hobby shop and they will advise you on their use and safety precautions!
