MONKS ~~~ Science ???~!!!?

Question

Does anyone know of any monks that did science?

I'm talking about biologists, brewists, ect.

And I already know about GREGOR MENDEL!!! Please don't give me his name -- I have it.

How about John Dobson?  He wasn't really a professional scientist, but he brought astronomy to the public.  However, he DID get kicked out of the abbey for it...
