  1. Neither...

  2. moot point.

neither will ever be habited, although we might mine the Moon, if the oil companies let us.

  3. If we can't prevent global warming, we can't terraform another planet.  But if we could, Mars would be the better choice.  It has water, a thin weak atmosphere but atleast it has one.  Plenty of carbon dioxide and trace amounts of oxygen are present.  The moon is mainly basalt or volcanic rock.  Zero atmosphere, zero magnetic field.

  4. I think you mean to say "Which celestial body is appropriate for humans"... the moon isn't a planet... the moon is a moon, more commonly known as a "natural satellite".

Out of the two, Mars would be a better choice. The moon's rotation is very slow.... at just over 29 days, while Mars' is around 24 hours. Mars already has an atmosphere... a thin one, but we can work with that to fix it.

Mars already has SOME water on it, and its soil could possible be used to plant crops. Apparently, we can grow asparagus there.

The problem with Mars is that its far away. The moon is closer and it would be easier to transfer it to the moon which is less than a week's journey. A journey to Mars would take months.

Right now, I don't think we are close at all to colonization.
