It is VERY rare, especially in the active duty Army.

If you are offered this job, and you want it, take it.

I've met a few of them, they love their jobs.

My impression is that the MOS is being phased out, and is being taken over by civilians.  They can only get stationed at about 6 posts, typically where there is a lot of aviation activity.

They train at Goodfellow AFB, TX.  Their training is very rigorous.
