MOT history details.?

I bought a car and just did a MOT check on www.motinfo.gov.uk

It failed on 19th May, then there was a change of details noted on that date, then it passed an other MOT on 23rd May.

In peoples past experience, does this look like a MOT failure which was sold to the garage, worked on by them then sold on to the dealer I bought it from in June?

  1. No, it is quite common for a car to fail, require minor repairs that need parts shipped over from overseas - (BMW are awful with this - they don't stock any of the stuff I need, it has to come from Germany).

This could take time to arrive - say work done on Wed/Thurs, took it for the re-test on the Friday. Quite plausible.

  2. Dont worry about it, you can fail an mot on a headlight bulb that was working when you left home to go for the test but it failed on the way there.  Most mot failures are on quite minor things - it is surprising how many people go in for an mot without even checking that all their lights are working.

  3. check it was retested at the same station,it wouldn't cost them to have it retested there after the work was carried out, but if they had then taken it to a different garage and it passed, it could be dodgy, find out what it failed on if you can
