MP3/Amp install in car?

Question

Hi, looking to Install a 2 channel amp and a couple of 6x9 speakers in my classic car. I don't want to put a head unit in as its a soft top and I want to keep it looking original.

Can I connect an MP3 player up to the amp via the headphone socket on the MP3 player and get a half decent sound or is there something else I need to install.

Any help would be appreciated

I would put a headunit in the glove compartment or mount it under the dash.  This will allow you to keep your stock appearance.
