MP3 downloads to any MP3 player?

I'm with Napster, and was disgusted to find that I can only download their MP3 tracks if I pay extra, and put them on a specific MP3 player.

Is there any site I can use ( I don't mind paying) that will allow me to download tracks to any MP3 player, and preferably one that has a pay as you go system, not monthly charges?
