MPEG-4 file onto DVD?

Question

how do i burn a MPEG-4 file onto a DVD? i have tried 'Power2go' but it does not support the MPEG-4 file type?

ALSO: will i need to convert it into AVI or another format to burn it? can some1 suggest a Converter Or Burner?
