Hi

I would like to know what is the minimum bit-rate required for several TV programs such as Sport, Movie and news in order to maintain a good quality of those TV programs when broadcasting via satellite. Moreover if anyone knows how it can be calculated, please tell me.

  1. The standard bitrate for the older TV standards (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) is 27 Mbps, which includes 13.5 Mbps for luminance and 13.5 Mbps for color.

For higher definition standards, that frequency is much higher.  In some systems it can be as high as 54 Mbps.
