MS DOS how do you list all your drives?

I am trying to copy from one drive to another but I cant tell what drive letter the USB drive i'm copying to is.

What command do I use to list all the drives?

  1. Probably the quickest way is to do (for example) D: and then E: and then F: and so on until you find it.


  2. In a Windows terminal session, you've just got to know your drives. They'll be letters, descending sequentially. A thumb drive will be after D: for sure, and if you can't find it, try Windows Explorer and read the name.

    If you're in true MS-DOS, you probably can't find the drive because support was never grafted on. There's a limited USB mass storage stack for 6.X out there, but I know nothing about the newer versions bundled with 95 through ME.
