MS Dhoni admits their batting was below par - Cricket News Update
The Indian Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, has admitted that batting failures in both innings of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), ultimately cost them the game they lost by 122 runs.
The Captain has urged his players to show consistency, and he added that his team had started the first innings well but they failed to capitalise on the good start, and threw their wickets away.
"Our batting flopped in both the innings. We have to show more consistency," said Dhoni at the post-match media conference on Thursday evening.
"In the first innings, we had a good stand going and their bowlers were also a bit tired. So if we could have seen off another 20 overs with the new ball, it would have become easy to score runs,” he further added.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 made 333 runs in their first innings. India were happily placed at 214 – 3 at the end of Day 2, and Day 3 saw Hilfenhaus scythe through the Indian batting line-up to claim five wickets in the innings. He was ably complimented by fellow pacers Peter
Siddle and James Pattinson, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 were bowled out for 282.
The Indian bowlers came back strongly in the second Australian innings, and bowled out the host for 240, setting themselves a target of 292 to win in the fourth innings of the match. The formidable batting line-up of India collapsed abysmally and lost by
122 runs. They were bowled out for a mere 169 runs in their second innings.

complimentary towards the umpire, for the way he handled the situation.
"He (Pattinson) was warned by umpire,” confirmed Dhoni at the media conference. “The umpire approached us because he wanted fielders and us to be kept away. It was handled in a good way. He wanted to make sure that we all are moving in the right direction."
The second Test of the series starts in Sydney on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
