MS Dhoni defends IPL’s impact on India’s performance – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, the Indian skipper, believes that playing Indian Premier League (IPL) is not having any negative impact on the performance of the national team and said that playing against the best cricketers of the world
actually helps the Men in Blue prepare for international events.
India’s performance in international cricket has dipped in the last couple of years, failing to deliver the goods in Test cricket away from home. In 2011, Dhoni’s men were the number one ranked Test team of the world; however,
they have now slipped down to number three.
Most critics believe that IPL is having an adverse effect on the performance the Indian team as the players have diverted their focus to the cash-rich tournament.
Dhoni admits that his side has failed to live up to the expectations over the last couple of years but does not believe that the deterioration has occurred because of IPL.
"What you have got right is the stats," Dhoni said. "They say that, after the IPL we have not done really well. So you have the stats to back you up on that. But I don't think it's for the IPL to be blamed
if you say we have not done well after IPL.”
The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jharkhand-c800 further added that IPL, if anything, has a positive impact on the performance of the players as they face some of the best in the business in the franchise-based league.
"You have to look at the positives," the wicketkeeper/batsman added. "The players that are playing the IPL, they had good exposure to international bowlers because bowlers from all over the world, they come and play in the IPL,
right from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DW-Steyn-c1409 to the best that the world has to offer.”
Dhoni leads Chennai Super Kings in IPL and his franchise finished as the runner-up in the recently-concluded sixth edition of the tournament.
With the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013 just around the corner, most cricketing pundits are of the opinion that the Men in Blue are not very well prepared for the event as the players were busy playing IPL.
