MS Dhoni geared up for the clash against South Africa – Cricket News Update

Ahead of their all-important Super 8 clash of the ICC World T20 2012, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian skipper, is not ready to take things for granted against South Africa and expressed that he will finalise the strategy after the match between Australia
and Pakistan.

Pakistan and India are currently level with two points, with the former having a slightly better run-rate. In case of the Green Shirts’ victory against the Kangaroos, the Men in Blue must beat the Proteas to have any chance of making it to the tournament’s
last four.

South Africa, on the other hand, have not been at their best in the Super 8 stage, having lost their fixtures against Pakistan and Australia. AB de Villiers and company would be praying for Pakistan’s defeat, as it is the only way the Proteas will have any
chance of qualifying for the semis.

Dhoni believes that South Africa can never be written-off, taking into account their strength in all three departments. The Indian team management will be keeping a close eye on the day’s earlier encounter, in order to know exactly what they need to do in
the evening.

"South Africa are a really good side, they've got the balance, they've got the talent," said Dhoni. "Our strategy will depend a fair bit on what happens in the match between Australia and Pakistan, what the result of that match is."

The Proteas have been under immense criticism for their inability to deliver the goods in big tournaments as they have earned the ‘chokers’ tag. South African coach, Gary Kirsten, wants to give benefit of the doubt to the young players, with the Proteas
going through a rebuilding phase in the limited-over formats.

"There's a legacy that's been left behind in South African cricket and it's really tough for young guys to come through and to fill that legacy of being able to overcome those tight situations. That's they way it is and we've got to move with it," he expressed.

With the conditions in Colombo favouring the spinners, India will surely start the battle as favourites.
