MS Dhoni keen to back troubled http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, the Indian captain, has admitted that the middle-order batsman, Rohit Sharma, is going through a lean patch in international cricket but he believes in giving proper chances to a player before omitting him from the playing-XI.
The 25-year-old cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 the same year.
Sharma played a massive role in his side’s title triumph, which encouraged selectors to give him more chances in the ODI squad. A number of former cricketers believe that the middle-order batsman is among the most talented youths in modern-day sport, having the ability to become a great cricketer in the coming years.
However, 2012 has not been good for Sharma, with him struggling to make an impression at the world stage, despite scoring a magnificent half-century in the Asia Cup 2012 encounter against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.
In the on-going ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, Sharma has so far scored only five runs in two matches, allowing pundits to question his place in the team.
The Indian skipper however, maintains that the right-handed batsman is a valuable asset for his side and a player should not be neglected after a couple of failures. Dhoni wants to assure Sharma of his place in the team and hopes that he will deliver the goods sooner rather than later.
Dhoni said, "What I personally believe in is to give a batsman or a bowler a few games before we change him because it gives him an opportunity to prove himself. In the same way, if he is not performing and then the new guy comes in, then you give him a stretch of games so that he is confident that he won't be shuffled in every match.”
“I feel that's a good way to go ahead because it gives you a cushion of the next three or four games [that assures] you are the person who would be playing," the wicketkeeper/batsman added.
