Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 on Wednesday hailed the overall good performance of his players after his side took an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match ODI series against England, with a comprehensive five-wicket win in the
fourth One Day International, here at the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali.
After putting into bat, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 both scored 76 runs,
while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 picked up two wickets apiece.
In reply, despite lacking contribution from the rest of the top order – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RG-Sharma-c2309 anchored the Indian innings, playing a calculated knock
of 83 runs from 93 deliveries to put http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in a comfortable position. He shared two crucial stands of 52 and 68 runs with Kohli and Raina.
While speaking to media reporters after the match, Dhoni said that it was a good performance.
"Overall a very good performance. We were right on spot with the new ball. We started off well and didn't let them get off to a quick start," Dhoni said at the post match presentation ceremony.
After keeping the English batsmen under check for the first 40 overs, Indian bowlers conceded 100 runs in the final ten overs. However, Dhoni defended his bowlers saying it was an inexperienced attack.
"It is new bowling attack, they will learn a lot with more matches under their belt. 100 in 10 overs, it's bound to happen with the new rules. But overall I am happy."
Dhoni also had a word of praise for Rohit Sharma.
"We all know Rohit is a gifted cricketer and it was a very good performance from him. He is a natural puller of the ball and one cannot bowl too many short deliveries to him. Once he got to his fifty, he converted it to a big one," said the Indian skipper.
The fifth and final ODI of the series will be played at Dharamsala on Sunday, January 27, 2013.
