MS Dhoni needs to improve his batting in Test cricket, feels Ian Healy – Cricket News Update
The former Australian wicketkeeper and cricket commentator, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, must improve his batting technique in Test cricket because the Men in Blue need their skipper to score runs, especially with so many
batsmen out of form.
India is currently touring Australia and has lost the first three Test matches with the fourth and final match in progress at the Adelaide Oval. In the case of losing the fourth Test match, it will be the second whitewash that the Indian team would have
faced in six months. Dhoni is unable to play the last Test of the series as he is currently serving a one match ban because of the slow over-rate in the third Test at Perth.
The Indian batsmen have failed to deliver the goods in overseas Test matches since the last one year and Dhoni has been out of form in Test cricket, even though his form in limited overs cricket is good.
Healy feels that a number of senior Indian batsmen are going to retire from Test cricket in the next two years and Dhoni will have to perform well with the bat in order to ease up the pressure on the junior batsmen. Former Aussie wicketkeeper feels that
Dhoni is under pressure because of his team’s poor performances and this is probably affecting his batting.
Former wicketkeeper said, “Dhoni needs to improve his batting, more so as some of the seniors may soon retire. His batting will then be more important. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 needs Dhoni’s batting to improve. Not being the captain could help, I don’t know. With his team
under-performing, Dhoni has felt the pressure on this tour.”
While commenting on the bad performances of the Australian wicketkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BJ-Haddin-c1170, Healy feels that he needs to improve but said that Haddin is still the best option for Australia because of his experience at the international level.
“Wouldn’t say his time is up, but he’s got to improve. Haddin’s the best ’keeper-batsman we have in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at the moment, but he’s not playing well. He’s certainly under scrutiny and only he’ll know if his time is up or if he can recover from the slump
in form,” he added.
