MS Dhoni says Zaheer Khan’s presence will help India win against Australia– Cricket News Update
India’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 has claimed that veteran bowler Zaheer Khan’s return to the side will increase the chances of winning the four-match Test series against Australia.
The first game of the series will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Monday, December 26, 2011.
India have never won a Test series in Australia, but have a solid chance of making history this time around, as the latter have been unable to play consistent cricket over the past few months.
However, the Men in Blue have been struggling with injuries to key players over the past couple of series and will need to improve on that.
Zaheer has let the team down due to injury on quite a few occasions now. The most recent incident was the four match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 where he broke down during the first game.
Dhoni and his men struggled to perform well after that, losing all the matches against the Poms. They faced a lot of criticism after that, but managed to gain some momentum after winning a home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
During the West Indian series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 tested quite a few young bowlers, who did a terrific job in the absence of the seniors.
According to Dhoni, “The new bowlers have done well in the opportunities they have got and have stepped up when the main bowlers weren't available. Our bowlers are talented and they will improve with experience. This team can beat Australia.”
He further went onto add that the practice game will be important for the players to get used to the conditions in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746.
Dhoni, who did not feature in the limited-over series against the Caribbean Kings, said, “I am feeling mentally fresh after the break and am looking forward to the Australian tour. I feel we have enough time to prepare for the first Test. Many of our players
have played in Australia before and that will help us.”
On the other hand, Australia will be looking forward to improve their home record against India. They will be challenged against the experienced batting line-up of the opposition, but young bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mitchell-Aaron-Starc-c76392 will be rearing
to do well against them.
