MS Dhoni says he is neither a specialist wicketkeeper nor an extraordinary batsman - Cricket News Update
The triumphant, calm and cool Indian skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028, has said that he is neither an extraordinary batsman nor a specialist wicketkeeper.
The comments of the Ranchi boy have come in the wake of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 wicketkeeping great, Jeffrey Dujon’s statement last week, in which he had lavishly praised the Indian skipper for his all-round skills.
Dhoni said that Dujon’s comments are a big compliment for him and vowed to continue his good form with the bat and gloves in the future as well.
"It's a big compliment for me. I am more of a package then a specialist. I'm neither an extraordinary batsman nor a specialist keeper," said Dhoni smilingly when asked to react to the comments of Dujon.
"I'm really happy for the compliments. It's a constant process. I hope to keep doing well and keep grooming the department you specialise. I hope I will be a specialist one day," he added further.
Dhoni, who has recently surpassed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Syed-Mujtaba-Hussein-Kirmani-c92334 as the most successful Test wicketkeeper in the history of Indian cricket with 204 scalps behind the stumps, has scored 10363 runs in International cricket. Overall, Dhoni has 467 dismissals in his name - 376
catches and 91 stumpings - and is ranked seventh in the list of wicketkeepers with the maximum number of scalps.
He takes the charge of Indian batting line up when all of his batsmen almost fail to score and returned match-winner at various occasions. His decision to come up in the order in the world cup final in April this year was heavily praised by the cricket pundits
and his fans.
Replying to a query regarding his game strategy, Dhoni said that he believes in doing the right things at the right time.
"It's all about doing the things right. It does not matter how you catch the ball, take the edges and do stumpings. It's important to score at that point of the time as it's really good for the side,” said the 30-year-old Ranchi wicketkeeper batsman.
Dhoni debuted in the Test cricket in December 2005 and has so far played 63 Tests compiling 3386 runs at an average of 38.91, including 5 centuries and 23 half centuries.
