MS Dhoni wants to rest before South African tour
Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 has said that he will talk with the Indian cricket board to allow some of the Indian cricketers some rest before they embark upon the tour of South Africa. India have been playing
almost non-stop cricket this year and will leave for South Africa within a week of the end of the home series against New Zealand.
There are some cricketers who play in both the main formats of the game like Dhoni himself, Suresh Raina and Zaheer Khan. Both Dhoni and Zaheer have injured themselves though the Indian captain continues
to play. Zaheer has been ruled out of the third Test match against New Zealand.
After the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, they play the visitors in a five-ODI series and there is a good chance that some of the senior players may be rested for the same.
Speaking to the media, Dhoni said, "If you look at the schedule players like myself and Suresh Raina have been playing non-stop cricket since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 tour. We went to play in the Champions League after
that and came back and played the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 series.”
He added that the Indian team hadn’t had the time to adapt to the various series and the fatigue was taking its toll. He said, “We will put in a request to the board but we have to see whether senior players
are available or not.”
Earlier, the Indian cricket board had announced that some of the Indian cricketers will be sent to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 a tad earlier to acclimatize themselves. This had come at the behest of the Indian coach Gary
Kirsten who said that he felt that the Indian team needed some time to get used to the conditions in South Africa. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 has never won a Test series in South Africa and have won only one Test there.
