Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028 seems to come down hard on Indian bowlers due to their poor bowling show in the first Test against South Africa in Centurion which India lost by an innings and 25 runs.
He said that one of the reasons of the demoralising defeat that India faced is that bowlers were not able get them all out. He said although pitch behaved differently than first day but bowlers have bowled on flatter tracks than that one and were able to
get teams all out.
Dhoni considered it an area of concern as one has to take 20 wickets to win a Test. He is also worried about his bowler’s ability to contain batmen as they conceded 225 runs in one session on the 3rd day of the Test at Centurion. He said that
in a Test match either you have to take wickets regularly or do not let opposite side to score at a rate of five runs an over but we failed to succeed in any of it.
Dhoni expressed his views about South African conditions by saying that they different from in India where ball turns and do not come on the bat and you can contain a batsman with a little effort. He said that despite losing wickets their scoring rate was
quite high which means that only way to win Test match here is to take wickets regularly. He further said that it was very difficult for bowlers to get many wickets as Indian bowlers are not quick enough to bowl at 140kph-plus.
Dhoni is very much looking forward to their spearhead pace bowler, Zaheer Khan. It’s not only that he gets more wickets rather the way he leads the bowling side. He comes up with different bowling plans which are helpful in containing the opposite side and
getting wickets regularly which he keeps changing during the game according to the situations of the game.
In Zaheer’s presence even if the bowling attack is not too strong, he can make other bowlers worthwhile due to his experience and exposure to international cricket. Dhoni also accepted the fact that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 is not a very good starter of Test series. He said
it is not only in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 that they have lost first Test. He regarded it as an ability of India to come hard after first Tests and winning most of the Test series to attain No.1 position in Test rankings. He said that they are very much used to such situations
and quite optimistic to perform in next two games.
For Dhoni, there was only one positive point and that was India’s batting in the fourth innings and they can take a lot of heart from it for the second Test at Durban.
