MS3 Craven Park declared new name for Rover’s Stadium - Rugby League
Hull Kingston Rovers' stadium has been renamed MS3 Craven Park for the next five years, after fans chose a new name for their club through balloting.
Last month, MS3, an independent data and telecommunications network, was declared the official naming sponsor of the club’s playing ground. The telecommunication company has invested a huge amount to rename the club for the next five year, starting from
2012. With this deal sealed, MS3 becomes the first company to bag the naming rights for Craven Park.
The basic idea behind the entire renaming procedure, is to append MS3 into the title. There were two names to choose from: MS3 Craven Park or MS3 Stadium. Fans were factored into the process of choosing the future name from their playing stadium through
a ballot. Votes could be cast through several mediums, including the official club website, the club's Facebook page, Official Retail Stores or SMS message. This way Rovers’ fans have also a huge part to play.
While speaking about MS3’s latest deal with the Rovers’ venue naming rights sponsorship, the managing director of MS3, Tony Hales said;
“In sport there is a growing concern about companies not wanting to spend money on advertising due to the current recession but as soon as we got involved with Hull KR, we knew they were a great club to work with and the right partnership for us. They are
a club at the heart of the community that look after their fans.MS3 believes the two organisations have great synergy which makes it an ideal partnership.”
He further went on and explained why club opted for the naming rights to be taken up by a sponsor, which in Robin’s case is, MS3. The director also mentioned that the reason why fans are incorporated into the process is to avoid total loss of identity of
Hulls, as a club.
Andy Mowbray, the Hull KR's commercial and marketing director shared about the naming process, stated,
“This is an historic and significant moment for the club at the start of what is an exciting new chapter in our history.”
He also added that he was excited about the naming sponsor’s decision to offer participation to fans, which will really make them happy and grateful.
The five-year partnership of Rovers with MS3 is expected to mutually beneficial, with MS3 all set to expand within the city of Hull. Either side is striving to achieve bigger goals, which will be easier when the two organisations join forces.
MS3, as an independent company, is currently headquartered at Hessle and is aiming to further improve its market visibility.
