Ballyrush Banneret: Kithkin spells and Soldier spells you play cost 1 less to play.

so does that ability stack for a kithkin soldier? i.e. since it is a kithkin spell, it brings it down to 1W. then sence it is a soldier spell, would it bring it down to just W?

  1. You would have to pay 1W.  The Banneret only sees one creature come into play so it only reduces it by one.  There are differences though.

If you had 2 Bannerets in play, it would reduce it to W.

If you had 3 Bannerets in play, you would still have to pay W because it only reduces colorless mana.

Now here is the big thing.  Wording is the issue here.

    If the Banneret said:

"Kithkin spells cost 1 less to play"

"Soldier spells cost 1 less to play"

Then the Kithkin Soldier would only cost W because each statement affects the spell seperately.  As is, the whole statement affects the spell only once.

See Grand Arbiter Augustin IV for an example of above.

    Or just look here.

  2. With just one Ballyrush, you would pay 1W.  The reduction takes off any colorless mana needed to play it.  If you had two Ballyrushes, you would only pay a W to play it.  I've got an old green/white deck that uses the sunscape and thornscape familiars to get my big creatures out fast.
